Logichem has been involved in an interesting ethanol recovery project for Cape Lime in Vredendal, South Africa.
At this facility Cape Lime intends to process grape skins arising from the surrounding wine cellars. Vredendal is one of the biggest wine producing areas in the world. During Cape Lime’s process, the grape skins are dried. The vapour emanating from the dryer contains residual ethanol from the wine fermentation process.
Logichem was commissioned to design and supply an ethanol recovery still, capable of producing a rectified spirit from this vapour stream. Logichem’s still is scheduled for commissioning in September 2007.
